What Does a Deep Clean Actually Cover? A Room-by-Room Breakdown

A deep clean is a different thing entirely from a routine tidy-up. Where regular cleaning keeps surfaces looking presentable, a deep clean gets into the areas that build up grime over weeks and months — the spots you walk past every day without quite noticing. Our deep cleaning service is built around thoroughness. Nothing gets skipped because it looks too difficult or too time-consuming. Here is what that looks like in practice, space by space.

Kitchen

The kitchen is usually where the most work is needed, and it is the room where a deep clean makes the biggest visible difference.

• Oven, grill and hob: We degrease the interior of the oven, clean the grill pan, remove and clean the hob burners or glass surface, and tackle the extractor filter above.
• Appliance exteriors: The fridge, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine all get cleaned outside, including handles and the areas around door seals.
• Inside the microwave and fridge: We wipe out interiors, remove shelves and drawers, and clean behind anything we can safely move.
• Cupboard fronts and handles: Grease collects here quickly. We clean every door front and handle rather than just the ones at eye level.
• Sink and taps: Limescale, soap residue and staining all get attention. Taps are descaled as needed.
• Skirting boards and floor edges: We get into the corners and edges that a mop misses on a weekly clean.
• Worktops: Everything is moved, surfaces cleaned underneath and behind items, then replaced.

Bathroom and Toilet

Bathrooms harbour soap scum, limescale and mildew in places that only become obvious once they are finally cleaned properly.

• Shower cubicle or bath: Tiles, grout, shower screen or curtain rail, taps and the shower head all get a thorough clean. Limescale on screens and taps is treated directly.
• Toilet: We clean the bowl, under the rim, the seat, the lid, the base and the flush handle. The area behind and around the base of the toilet is cleaned too.
• Sink and vanity: Taps descaled, sink cleaned, any shelving or cabinet fronts wiped down.
• Extractor fan cover: Dust builds up fast here. We remove and clean the cover where accessible.
• Mirrors: Cleaned streak-free.
• Floor and skirting: Including the edges around the toilet base and behind the door.

Bedrooms

Bedrooms are often underestimated in a deep clean, but they gather dust in corners and on surfaces that routine cleaning only skims.

• Wardrobes and furniture: We clean the tops, sides and fronts of all freestanding furniture, including areas above head height.
• Skirting boards and door frames: Wiped down fully, not just dusted.
• Window sills and ledges: Cleaned properly, including tracks if accessible.
• Under the bed: We move what we can and clean underneath, including along the base of the bed frame.
• Light switches and socket covers: These get wiped, not ignored.
• Mirrors and glass: Left streak-free throughout.

Living Areas and Hallways

Sitting rooms and hallways see a lot of traffic but are often cleaned on the surface only. A deep clean changes that.

• Upholstery: We vacuum sofas and chairs fully, including under cushions and down the sides.
• Shelving and surfaces: Everything is moved, cleaned under and behind, then replaced.
• Radiators: The fronts, tops and fins are cleaned. Dust collects heavily on radiator fins and can affect how well they heat a room.
• Skirting boards and coving: Cleaned along their full length.
• Doors and frames: Fingerprints and marks on door faces, handles and frames are dealt with throughout.
• Floors: Vacuumed fully before mopping hard floors, including edges and corners. Rugs are moved and cleaned under.

Stairs and Landing

• Banisters, spindles and handrails are wiped down.
• Each stair tread and riser is vacuumed and, where appropriate, mopped.
• Skirting along the staircase wall is cleaned in full.

What We Do Not Do in a Standard Deep Clean

To avoid any confusion: a deep clean covers cleaning, not repairs or maintenance. We do not fill cracks, treat mould at the root (we can clean the visible surface, but structural damp is a separate issue), or carry out any form of pest control. If something is broken or damaged, we work around it carefully and let you know.

Getting Ready for a Deep Clean

You do not need to clean before we arrive, but a little preparation helps us get the most out of the time we are with you.

• Clear any clutter from surfaces and floors where possible. The more surface area our cleaners can access, the more thoroughly we can clean it.
• Let us know in advance about anything specific you want prioritised — a particularly neglected oven, a bathroom with heavy limescale, or rooms you want us to focus on first.
• Make sure we can get into all the areas you want cleaned. Locked cupboards or rooms we cannot access will simply have to wait.
