Your Questions About Recurring Home Cleans Answered

Beverley Holloway · 18 Jul 2026

A recurring clean is one of the most popular services we offer, and it is easy to see why. Whether you are a busy professional in Norwich, a family juggling school runs in Ipswich, or a retiree in a period cottage on the Suffolk coast, having a reliable cleaning routine takes one big task off your plate. That said, we know people often have questions before they commit to a regular booking. Here, we answer the ones we hear most often.

What exactly is a recurring clean?

A recurring clean is a scheduled visit that takes place on a regular basis, typically weekly or fortnightly. Each visit follows a consistent routine covering the key areas of your home: kitchens, bathrooms, living spaces, and bedrooms. The goal is to keep your home at a steady standard rather than letting things build up between visits.

This is different from a one-off or deep clean, which tends to be a more intensive session tackling areas that have not been addressed for some time. You can read more about how those differ on our deep cleaning service page.

Our regular cleaning service is designed to slot neatly into your weekly or fortnightly routine, giving you a consistently clean home without you having to think about it.

How often should I book a recurring clean?

This depends on a few things: the size of your home, how many people live there, whether you have pets, and how quickly your home tends to get untidy between visits.

  • Weekly cleans suit households with children, pets, or high footfall. They keep things on top of dust, hair, and kitchen mess before it builds up.
  • Fortnightly cleans work well for couples or individuals who keep a reasonably tidy home day to day and just need a thorough going-over every couple of weeks.
  • Every three or four weeks can work for very small households or second homes, though at that frequency you may find surfaces need a bit more attention each visit.

If you are unsure, a fortnightly clean is a good starting point for most Norfolk and Suffolk households. You can always adjust the frequency once you see how your home holds up between visits.

What does a recurring clean typically cover?

While every household is different, a standard recurring clean usually includes:

  • Vacuuming throughout, including stairs
  • Mopping hard floors
  • Dusting surfaces, skirting boards, and light fittings
  • Cleaning kitchen surfaces, hobs, and the outside of appliances
  • Cleaning and sanitising bathroom and toilet areas
  • Emptying bins
  • Wiping mirrors and glass surfaces

Some tasks, such as cleaning inside the oven or washing windows, are usually better handled as occasional add-ons rather than part of every visit. Our team is happy to talk through what your home needs so nothing important gets overlooked.

Do I need to be at home during the clean?

Not at all. Many of our clients in Norfolk and Suffolk are out at work or busy with other commitments when our cleaners visit. Some people prefer to be in, particularly at first, which is completely fine too. Over time, most clients settle into a routine that suits them, whether that means leaving a key, using a key safe, or simply being at home while we get on with things in another part of the house.

Will I get the same cleaner each time?

We do our best to ensure consistency. Having the same cleaner visit regularly means they get to know your home, your preferences, and the areas that need a little extra attention. In practice, cover may occasionally be needed for holidays or illness, but we aim to make any handover as smooth as possible.

Should I tidy up before the cleaner arrives?

A little light tidying helps our cleaners work more efficiently. If surfaces are clear of clutter, we can get straight to cleaning rather than spending time moving things around. You do not need to do anything elaborate, just gather loose items, clear the kitchen counters if you can, and put any laundry away. The less time spent navigating clutter, the more time we can give to the actual cleaning.

What about cleaning products?

We can bring our own products, or use yours if you have preferences, particularly if you use eco-friendly or fragrance-free products. If you have young children, pets, or sensitivities to certain ingredients, let us know in advance. There are some very good plant-based cleaning ranges now widely available in supermarkets across Norfolk and Suffolk, and our team is experienced in using them effectively.

Is a recurring clean right for older or period homes?

Yes, though there are a few things worth bearing in mind. Older homes in Norfolk and Suffolk, particularly those with original timber floors, exposed beams, or lime-plastered walls, benefit from careful product choices. Harsh chemicals can damage unsealed wood or old stonework, so we take a considered approach in period properties. Dusting in these homes also tends to be more involved, as older structures can generate more dust from their fabric and fittings.

If you have a listed property or a home with particularly delicate surfaces, just mention this when you get in touch and we will make sure our approach suits the property.
